Another 1000-IN-24 is in the books, so here's a few interesting
statistics from the ride.
The fastest rider was once again Chris Callahan of Denver
on a Suzuki Hayabusa, who logged 1,168 miles in 15 hr 58 min.
for an average of 73.5 mph.
The slowest was Roger Roberts who logged 1,059 miles in 23
hr 18 min. for an average of 45.5 mph. (Roger stopped to help
a fellow rider who had an accident, and needed emergency care.)
Thank you very much Roger.
The average time for the ride was 20:02 hrs, average mileage
was 1,044 mi., and the average speed was 52.1 mph.
We had 45 registered entries, 34 started, of the 11 who did
not start on Sat. the 18th, 5 plan on riding later. 2 dropped
out because of mechanical problems before the start.
28 riders finished the ride, of the 6 who did not 1 was an
accident, (Dan Feda on the N side of Hoosier Pass, too hot into
a curve, sustained some broken bones). 2 called it quits from
fatigue, 1 went home, and 2 had mechanical problems.
There were 14 riders who tried for IBA SS1K certifications,
11 were successful, 1 accident, 1 not enough miles, and 1 stopped
because of fatigue. Again for the fourth year in a row we offered
the riders a chance to earn an IBA (Iron Butt Association) "Saddle
Sore 1000" certificate at a reduced price if they completed
the route in the allotted time and with the required mileage.
See the IBA website at: Iron
Butt for more information.

Thanks go out to our sponsors:
Fay Myers Motorcycle World, for the starting and ending location,
use of the meeting room, easy up tent, chairs and tables, and
food.
Deward Knapp, for the energy drinks and energy bars at the
start. For the first time, the 1000-IN-24 ride had a co-sponsor.
What better to have on hand at the beginning of a 24-hour event
than energy products? Deward
Knapp, a fellow endurance rider, was on-hand during the
start to offer each participant and all volunteers the opportunity
to sample an energy bar and energy drink.
For additional information, please visit Deward
Knapp's Health Zone, send electronic
mail, or call 303.753.3359.
Also a big thank you from me to all our volunteers:
Brian Boberick, Tory Brown, Pete Chronis, Bill Gillespie, Ron
Hall, Alan Hansher, Jon Lofstedt, Bob Norton, Norman Roeder,
Bob Swanson, Floyd Thorne, Bud Wolff, Dennis Yamaguichi, Don
McKee, Pat McCombs
Thank you all for participating, and I hope to see you again
on our little "DAY" ride.
If you think you would like to see a lot of the Colorado country
side in a short period of time or maybe you're just curious
about being able to ride a 1,000 miles in a 24 hour period,
join us and enter in Colorado's longest running event of it's
kind.
